While studying Condorcets “Progress of the human mind,” I happened upon another interesting passage pertaining to the discovery of magnetism.

It is something I have been familiar with most of my life – being that the actions of a compass are always consistent unless there is substantial interference. Something I did discover through this passage is quite the interesting facet – again something I have known much of my life – it just wasn’t until I had read his reference and description, that it arranged itself in a conducive manner to acknowledge the realization.

He referred to the natural phenomenon of magnetism utilizing the term “loadstone (lodestone).” This struck a vein with me (pun intended) – I have been around precious metal mining for a considerable amount of my youth and early adult hood – such quarry is very much “load/lode.” This being nothing too surprising as much of a commonality as it is – but given consideration and a bit of insight from other knowledge and a person may surmise why it is (or a goodly part of the reason) that precious metals found such value, naturally it seems.

Those reasons being/consisting of much more than is readily apparent. Such as when a person adds the consideration into such a consistent value, that a majority of people do not have a stable sense of direction.

From a psychological stand point, that lack in sense of direction – increases a persons natural instability – rather decreases their natural stability.

Those precious ores –metals – lode, possess a considerable reaction/response consistently ( and I may point out, this supports the idea of a much larger “eternal source” and consistency) with that existing influence.

When a person lacking such stability is in close proximity with something so active in that sense – it lends to them a level of comfort on a level which isn’t readily acknowledged (if ever at all). This is not an extreme difference or effect, but with very little imagination it is easily considerable.

I believe this effect is much of the subconscious desire in some people to have and wear such precious metals. I believe it is much of the reason in a subconscious sense, as to why they are considered so valuable. I believe as well, that some people are more prone to a greater response to a given type as opposed to another.

Again, such is very much part of that larger consistency. It very much explains early, primitive obsession with them in ceremonial capacities. It even furthers the idea of interactive connectivity – given the various levels (frequency) of sensitivity – such being another layer of emulation (various combinations – illustrating yet further, Proximity Gestation).
